Boroughs have the power to provide, improve, maintain and regulate public parks, playgrounds, playing fields and recreation centers. The members serve 5-year terms.
In Selinsgrove Borough, a Parks and Recreation Board was formed to function in an advisory capacity to Borough Council in determining the amounts and kinds of recreation most needed by its citizens. The Board also has the responsibility to equip, operate and maintain recreation facilities.
This is a nine (9) member board appointed by the Selinsgrove Borough Council. The Commission meets at the call of the Chairman in the Council Chambers of the Selinsgrove Community building. In the Borough of Selinsgrove, the members of the Park and Recreation Board receive no compensation.
