Selinsgrove Borough

Borough Officials

The Borough of Selinsgrove is governed by a Council-Manager form of government.

There are seven Council Members and a Mayor who are elected at-large by the voters. The Chief Administrative Officer is the Borough Manager who is appointed by Council and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Borough.

Borough Council appoints the Treasurer, Solicitor, Engineer, Secretary/Manager and Police Chief, all of whom serve at the pleasure of Council.

The members of the various boards and commissions are also appointed by Council.

Civil Service Commission

The Commission is responsible for administering the Civil Service Examination to applicants for positions and promotion within the Police Department.

Water Authority

The Authority is the owner of the water system and leases the maintenance and operation of the water system to the Borough of Selinsgrove.

Parks and Recreation Board

The Parks and Recreation Board also has the responsibility to equip, operate and maintain recreation facilities.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission has the responsibility to review all proposed Subdivision and Land Development Plans, and Conditional Use applications and to make recommendations in that regard to Borough Council.

Shade Tree Commission

The Selinsgrove Shade Tree Commission has the authority to plant, remove, maintain and protect shade trees located within Borough streets, easements or Borough property.

Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing board helps assure fair and equitable application and administration of the Zoning Ordinance by hearing appeals on the Zoning Officer’s determinations. As well as Special Exception Use Applications and Variances.
